Monarq Group and Nikka Whisky to Enter Caribbean Market
The Monarq Group and the Japanese whiskey company Nikka Whisky are expanding their partnership to launch their products in the Caribbean. Nikka and Monarq have been working together since last year when Monarq helped launch Nikka’s portfolio in the Mexican market. The two companies are now looking to extend their efforts in the Caribbean.
As part of the forecast, the Caribbean Whisky market is expected to grow by 6.76% (2024-2028), resulting in a market volume of US$1.3bn. The projections have won the attention of several whisky companies including Nikka and Diageo.
With its roots dating back to 1934, Nikka Whisky offers a wide range of Japanese whiskies, as well as Coffey Vodka, Gin, and Gin and Coffey Vodka.

The House of NIKKA Whisky was founded by Masataka Taketsuru in 1996. Having acquired first-hand experience from Scotch distillers, he adopted authentic techniques to make whisky and developed his own style without compromising quality.
General Manager Emiko Kaji commented: “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Monarq Group beyond the Mexican market.
“With their unparalleled understanding of the region’s preferences and market dynamics, we are confident that this collaboration will elevate the accessibility and appreciation of Nikka’s curated whisky and spirits offerings, along with rich stories behind them.”
As one of Latin America’s largest import, distribution, and marketing companies, Monarq Group offers premium beverages in both domestic and duty-free markets, including the US duty-free market.
“After successfully launching Nikka in the Mexican market in 2023, we are pleased [to be] extending our partnership to the Caribbean territory,” agreed Monarq Managing Director Robert de Monchy.
“Nikka Japanese Whisky aligns perfectly with our commitment to offering our customers the finest selection of spirits from around the world. Nikka’s dedication to quality and tradition resonates strongly with Caribbean consumers, and we are excited to embark on this journey together.”
