Yoshino Produces Pine Tree Umiki Whisky
Japan-based Yoshino Spirits has released Umiki – a pine tree barrel-finished whisky that also uses water from the Pacific Ocean.
Umiki – from the Japanese word for ocean [‘umi’] and the Japanes word for tree [‘ki’] – blends water from the Pacific Ocean with Japanese ocean-side malt whiskies and grain whiskies and then finishes the mixture in Japanese pine tree barrels. Umiki is said to contain floral notes as well as “sea breeze”.
Umiki is being made available in Asian markets and the USA beginning in April 2020 and worldwide in May 2020.
