Nikka Halts Production Of Taketsuru Whiskies
Japanese whisky maker Nikka has announced that they will halt production of four whiskies – three of them permanently – in all markets in March 2020.
Nikka – which is owned by Asahi Breweries – will delist Taketsuru Pure Malt 17-year-old, 21-year-old and 25-year-old. Taketsuru Pure Malt will also be discontinued but will be replaced by the launch of a new no-age-statement whisky.
Nikka’s Taketsuru blended malt whisky lineup was named in honor of founder Masataka Taketsuru.
Nikka joins the list of Japanese whiskies to be discontinued due to high demand and other factors – that list includes Suntory’s Hibiki 17 and Hakushu 12, as well as Shirokaku, Chita and Kakubin brands.
