Angel’s Envy Celebrates Valentine’s Day
The good news is that Kentucky-based Angel’s Envy distillery collaborated with women-led florists East Olivia to offer a limited-edition Valentine’s Day Floral Gift Set for a mere $55. Explorer’s Club, The Club, Wins Battle Against Explorer’s Club, The Whisky
Up until last week, The Explorer’s Club was both an actual club as well as an actual whisky. But that was last week and before lawyers got involved. Seems as though The Explorer’s Club, the club, did not cotton to being associated with the Explorer’s Club, the whisky – no matter how high-falutin’ that conceptual connection might be – and brought a court injunction to prevent Diageo, the company owning […]

Ballantine’s Pines Whisky Emoji
Beer, cocktails and wine all have emoji symbols for smartphones associated with them but Ballantine’s Whisky thinks whisky should have its specific emoji and not be lumped in with cocktails [which usually has a martini glass symbol]. So they have decided to do something about it and have created a campaign – with the hashtag #WhiskyEmoji – on social media channels Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to make their case. Ballantine’s […]

Heineken Enlists Fred Armisen To Promote Beer While Calling A Pay Phone
Heineken paid Fred Armisen a boatload of cash for the simple act of calling a pay phone situated across the street from New York City’s Comedy Cellar comedy club and then trying to entice whoever answered the phone to come over to the club. Not surprisingly, many people would not even pick up the randomly ringing phone and even fewer could be coerced by Armisen to come across the street. […]
Aspall Debuts New Bottle For Six Ciders
Aspall Cider used to come in giant nearly wine-bottle sizes for their various ciders – it was an element of design which set them apart from other ciders in stubbier bottles – but the aspect that set them apart also provided a problem for storage as the bottles were too tall to be properly shown in display cases and forced into a lying down position which hid the label. That […]

Fancy whiskies vie for recognition among the sniffy, snooty crowd whisky connoisseur crowds at the International Wine and Spirits Competition but it was Queen Margot 8-Year Blended Scotch Whisky which won a gold medal at the competition in London. That a whisky won a gold medal is not surprising, the surprising part is that this particular whisky happens to be a discount liquor common in the German supermarket chain, Lidl. […]
