Traitors Ford Whiaky Launched By 2 Distillers
Two top English distillers have collaborated in the creation of a unique blended whisky. Dubbed Traitors Ford, the spirit was produced by Cotswolds Distillery and Hook Norton Brewery. The expression is a limited edition release.
A blend of rye, corn, and malted barley mash bill is used to make the whisky It was produced at Hook Norton Brewery, in Oxfordshire, England, in 2016, and aged at the Cotswolds Distillery for eight years in a re-charred American oak barrel.
Interestingly, the collaboration comes in an important year for both distilleries which are in important anniversary years. This year marks Cotswolds Distillery’s 10th anniversary and Hook Norton’s 175th anniversary as a brewing facility.
Unique Essence of Traitors Ford Whisky
Founder of the Cotswolds Distillery, Dan Szor, said. “I couldn’t be more excited that the long-awaited day has arrived when we can release this fantastic cask. One of our oldest whiskies to date, a celebration of both our amazing location. A collaboration between two terrific brands here in the north Cotswolds.”
As its name suggests, Traitors Ford is located near the Cotswolds Distillery and Hook Norton Brewery. It is reputed to be full of English history. In addition, the spirit’s mash bill was lautered and the wash distilled in a Holstein hybrid pot and column still.
With a 40% ABV, Traitors Ford has notes of hazelnuts on the nose and cassia and sticky ginger cake on the palate. Unfortunately, there were only 200 bottles produced and available from Cotswolds Distillery.
James Clarke, managing director at Hook Norton Brewery, added: “Here at Hook Norton Brewery we always look to work closely with local suppliers and producers, so producing a whisky with our friends at Cotswold Distillery just over the hill was a natural fit.
“Brewing and distilling go hand in hand and back through history, so it has been great to work together to produce this historic and unique whisky.”
