Dunfermline Whisky – New Whisky Promoting Group
A brand new whisky group called Dunfermline Whisky was created by four whisky enthusiasts: Jason Julien, George Brailey, Brendan Innes, and Adam Stanley. The four men met through their whisky journeys, and now they are sharing their knowledge of the drink at tasting events in the city.
The group’s expertise is impressive. Brailey’s grandfather was the chief whisky influence in his life and he plans on putting it to good use. Likewise, Stanley aims to share his knowledge of whisky with others from his hometown. Julien has written on whisky for newspapers and publications including Malt and Dramface. While Innes has been a member of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society since 1996
Interestingly, their experience is also built on personal investments in spirit. Brailey, who has been collecting whisky for about ten years, explained: “I always want to make sure that whisky is inclusive.”

In addition, Dunfermline Whisky plans to hold tastings every second Thursday with the aim of making whisky accessible to everyone. The group started as a non-profit to create a fun and inclusive environment.
On Thursday, April 11, the group will hold its first tasting at Edward’s Bar and Grill on Hospital Hill. They will be tasting a selection of bottles, including one from the lost North Port distillery. Unfortunately, the event is already booked out.
“Our first event sold out within a day,” said George Brailey. “It’s amazing to see such a diverse array of people already.”
Despite the absence of whisky distilleries in Dunfermline right now, there have been several in the past. The group did some extensive research and found some interesting information about three distilleries that have existed there over the years.
There is little information about one distillery in the East Port area. In 1761, the Dunfermline Press reported the presence of an illegal distillery on Knabbie Street, (Carnegie Street). The operation occurred in the cellar of John Hamilton and his brother, William Hamilton.
