Courvoisier Unveils Mizunara Finished Cognac
Courvoisier has released a new cognac – Courvisier Mizunara – finished in Japanese mizunara casks. Courvisier Mizunara Cognac was made using Grand Champagne – a cru from the Cognac region – and aged in French oak barrels before being finished mizunara casks. Only 500 bottles of Courvisier Mizunara are being offered at $2,000 per bottle.
Tasmania’s Lawrenny Introduces Madeira Cask-Finished Whisky
Tasmania’s Lawrenny Estate Distillery has released a single malt whisky entitled Descension, which was finished in Boal Madeira wine casks. Lawrenny Descension was created using Tasmanian barley, water from the upper River Derwent, then was matured in both ex-Port and ex-bourbon casks before being finished in Boal Madeira casks and bottled at 46.6% alcohol by volume [97.2 proof].
