Stock Spirits Partners With Argyl Estates to Build New Distillery
It seems like there will be new whisky expressions flowing into the European market. Recently, Stock Spirits and Argyll Estates submitted an application to build the Inveraray Distillery to the Argyll and Bute Council.
According to Stock Spirits, the new distillery will produce single malt whiskies and blended Scotch whiskies for the Clan Campbell brand. The distillery acquired Clan Campbell from Pernod Ricard last September.
Inveraray Castle is set to be home to a 950-square-meter distillery, with a production capacity of up to two million liters per year. If all goes as planned, construction is expected to create more than 20 full-time jobs. This will create a new story for the castle where the Duke of Argyll has lived since the 18th century.

Under planning approval, construction is expected to begin in early 2025 and the first spirits will be manufactured in 2027. The project will be constructed in partnership with local companies and suppliers, using environmentally friendly solutions.
In addition, Jean-Christophe Coutures, chief executive of Stock Spirits Group, revealed that the distillery’s goal was creating its single malt whisky. “Clan Campbell Scotch whisky is an iconic whisky brand that has established strong links with the Duke of Argyll.
“I am proud that our company has the opportunity to establish a distillery near Inveraray Castle. This investment is an important step for the group towards having its single malt whisky production, which will strengthen the Clan Campbell brand and Stock Spirits’ presence in this growing category.
“Our state-of-the-art Inveraray Distillery will be equipped with the latest technologies, including those that are environmentally friendly. Its creation will also benefit the local community in the form of new jobs. We look forward to working with Argyll Estates on this next chapter in the Clan Campbell story.”
According to The Brand Champions 2024 report, Clan Campbell sold 1.3 million nine-litre cases in 2023, a decline of 8.6%. The brand was recently launched in Germany and the Czech Republic.
