The 2017 Whisky Galore Official Trailer
The 2017 version of “Whisky Galore” will be arriving on Scottish shores on May 5, 2017 before crossing the pond and making it to USA shorelines on May 19, 2017.
The remake of the 1949 original film tells the story of Scottish islanders attempting to abscond with 50,000 cases of whisky from a stranded ship near their island’s shores and stars Eddie Izzard, James Cosmo, Gregor Fisher, Kevin Guthrie, Ellie Kendrick, Naomi Battrick and Sean Biggerstaff.
The remake of the original film is was based on the novel by Sir Compton Mackenzie, which itself was based on the real events of 1941 when the S.S. Politician was shipwrecked in the Outer Hebrides leading to a battle between the wily islanders and the British custom authorities on nearby Eriskay Island as the islanders tried to “liberate” the 28,000 bottles of whisky on board as well as some of the banknotes.
