Southern Comfort Receives Instagram Ad Ban In UK
Southern Comfort – a whiskey liqueur owned by Sazerac – was on the receiving end of an Instagram ad ban by the UK’s Alcohol Standards Authority (ASA) which issued the ban after two posts promoted a ‘Shark Bite’ drink served over the week of Halloween and appeared to feature people under the age of 25 [a no-no in UK-land].
The posts in question were by UK-based blogger Francesca Perks and English musician Jack Remmington – Perks was 22 at the time of the ad and Remmington was over 25 but his ad depicted those involved to be under the age of 25, the ASA concluded.
In conclusion, the ASA said the ads must not appear again in their current form.
